Visiting La Conciergerie
At the monument's heart is the Salle des Gens d'Armes, the Hall of the Men-at-Arms - a vast rib-vaulted Gothic hall from the early 14th century, considered the largest surviving medieval hall in Europe. From there the visit turns to the Revolution: the prison galleries, the courtyards, and the cell and commemorative chapel tied to Marie-Antoinette's final days.
The included HistoPad tablet lets you scan marked points to see eleven rooms rebuilt in 3D, both as the medieval palace under Philip the Fair and as the prison of 1793. Outside, the riverfront Tour de l'Horloge has carried the first public clock in Paris since 1370.
